Eligibility for Admission to Examination
A student shall be eligible for the admission to the state Council and University examination if the Principal of the institute certifies that:
- She has completed not less than eleven month of course.
- She has attended 80% of the lectures of the formal instructions given on each subject & 100% of the clinical field experience in each area/ subject separately during the academic year. However the total clinical / field experience prescribed must be completed before the final Council and University examination.
- The overall performance of the student and her conduct during the entire academic year has been satisfactory.
- The student has passed in the internal assessment in each subject. i.e. both in the teaching & practical by securing 50% marks separating in each theory and practica’s.
- The record of practical experience is complete. ( The principal shall send to the Council and University the internal assessment for each subject. i. e. both theory and practical (s) before the start of the examination along with the examination form).
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
For State Quota Seats
Only those Bonafide Himachali female candidates qualifying the Entrance Test conducted by H.P University and are fulfilling the eligibility criteria ad prescribed in the prospects will be considered for admission in order of merit-cum-choice of the college.
For Management
All the candidates having Qualified the entrance test irrespective of himachali bonafied status will be considered in order of merit in the entrance test subject to fulfill the minimum educational; and age criteria as prescribed in the prospects however students can directly apply to the college for management seats.
However, in case the seats under State Quota in private nursing colleges remain vacant
even after exhausting the merit list of qualifies Himachali Bonafide candidates in the entrance test, the remailing vacant seats will be filled up by adopting the following admission procedure:
(i) 1st preference will be given in order of merit of 10+2 qualifying examination of those Bonafide Himachali candidates who have appeared in the B.Sc. Nursing Entrance test.
(ii) In case the seat in the State Quota means vacant even after exhausting the candidates available under the 1st preference then the candidates at the top of merit list of Management Quota as per the final merit of the Entrance Test will be converted to the State Quota Seats to fill-up the remaining vacancies in the State Quota . In Such a case the candidates so converted shall be charged the fee payable by the State Quota candidate.
In case the seats under Management Quota in private nursing colleges also remain
vacant after exhausting the merit of B.Sc. Nursing Entrance Test, the following procedure will be followed:
(i) 1st preference will be given in order of merit of 10+2 qualifying examination of all the candidates irrespective of Himachali Bonafide status who have appeared in the B.Sc. Nursing Entrance Test.
(ii) In case the seats in the Management Quota remain vacant even after exhausting the candidates available under the 1st preference then the respective nursing institution will be allowed to notify such vacancies under Management Quota seats to be filled up on the basis of merit of candidates in 10+2 qualifying examination irrespective of Bonifide status subject to the fulfillment of minimum educational and age criteria as prescribed in the Prospectus. However, in such cases the respective private nursing institution shall adopt fair, transparent and merit based system f selection under the supervision of representative of Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Himachal Pradesh.
INTERNSHIP PERIOD
General Objectives
Upon completion of the internship period the student shall be able to:
Demonstrate skills in the discharge of professional responsibilities independently and effectively.
Demonstrate beginning skills in teaching patients/ clients in health care setting and nursing student in clinical settings is an effective manner.
Demonstrate beginning skills in administration and management of nursing units, health clinics and heath centers.
Assist/ Participate in research activities of the institution / organization in various health care settings.
Identify and appreciate the needs for continuing and in-service education in practice of nursing.

Student shall attend one hour class daily and 7 hours for clinical experience or one day for theory and five days for clinical experience shall be planned by institutes as per their suitability which shall come to 40 hrs per week clinical & 8 hrs for theory.
